Zero emissions? Only if you choose them.
Every order creates CO₂.
We don’t pretend it’s less than it is.
But we show you exactly how to bring it down to zero yourself.
No donations. No indulgence payments. Just your own action.
And be careful: People often underestimate the footprint of so-called “locally” produced items. Transporting raw materials, Germany’s relatively high CO₂ emissions in electricity production, compared to more advanced countries like Kenya’s almost carbon-neutral electricity grid, often mean that the obvious choice isn’t actually the better one.
How CO₂ Zero Action works
1. You see the number.
For example:
- A handcrafted cutlery box: 12 kg CO₂
- A bag made from natural materials: 10 kg CO₂
(Source: Calculation based on shipment weight and distance using the DHL Carbon Calculator.)
2. You choose your action – concrete and measurable.
Here are a few examples:
- Replace beef 3 times*
150 g of beef = 4 kg CO₂
3 meals = 12 kg CO₂ - Skip 4 car trips*
1 km by car = 0.15 kg CO₂
20 km per trip = 3 kg CO₂
4 trips = 12 kg CO₂ - 15 cold showers instead of warm*
approx. 0.8 kg CO₂ saved per cold shower
total approx. 12 kg CO₂ - Replace 10 liters of cow’s milk with oat drink*
1 liter cow’s milk = 1.2 kg CO₂
10 liters = 12 kg CO₂ - Replace 7 frozen pizzas with home-cooked meals*
1 pizza = 1.8 kg CO₂
7 pizzas = 12.6 kg CO₂
This makes it clear:
Your CO₂ Zero Action brings your product to zero.
3. You implement it – step by step.
We’ll remind you.
You confirm each action.
And you can watch your footprint shrink in real time.
Why this is better
Because no certificate in the world replaces real responsibility.
Because CO₂ Zero Action means:
You decide. You act. You make the difference.
Your handprint
Everyone talks about the CO₂ footprint.
We talk about the handprint:
The traces you leave when you choose to take responsibility.
It starts with a decision.
Make your product CO₂ zero. For yourself. For all of us.
* Make it a habit. It’s good for the climate. And honestly – it feels pretty good too.
Good to Know – Your Questions Answered
Why should I order something made far away in the first place?
Because real sustainability is more than just ecological footprints. It means balancing environmental, economic, and social impacts. Europe’s colonial past has destroyed many of the foundations for self-determined, sustainable livelihoods in Africa, like education, healthcare, and resilient local farming. Today, fair and transparent global trade can help rebuild and balance what was lost. Yes, transport causes emissions, but production in Kenya often has a smaller CO₂ footprint thanks to nearly carbon-neutral electricity. And every order supports skilled artisans to create value where it matters most.
How exactly does CO₂ Zero Action work?
Before you place your order, we use AI to calculate how much CO₂ the transport will cause. You’ll receive this number from us. Then you choose an Action that feels right for you. We suggest options – for example, depending on whether you drive a car or eat vegetarian or vegan. You can also propose your own Actions. Our system calculates exactly how many Actions are needed to balance your CO₂ footprint. After you place your order, we’ll remind you by email about your chosen Actions. You confirm each time you complete one – until everything is balanced. And if you decide to stop, we’ll try to find someone in our community who will take over your Action. After all, anyone can take a cold shower.
How do you know that customers actually complete their Actions?
We don’t know in the traditional sense, and that’s intentional. CO₂ Zero Action is built on trust and personal responsibility, not control. Everyone confirms their own Actions and can share their progress or experiences with the community if they like. We believe real change only works when people want it themselves, not because someone is watching them.
What happens if I can’t complete all my Actions?
That’s okay. You can adjust your Actions anytime. And if you stop, we’ll look for someone in our community who wants to take over. It’s not about perfection, it’s about doing something real.
Where does the idea of CO₂ Zero Action come from?
CO₂ Zero Action is our own idea. We created it to rethink CO₂ balancing – not as a donation or a certificate, but as something personal and concrete you do yourself. The basic principles come from research on behavior change, handprint concepts, and sustainable consumption. But in this form – with AI calculation, your own Actions, community support, and a direct connection to your purchase – as far as we know, it only exists here.
Is there already experience with this approach?
In this exact combination, we are pioneers, so we are in a beta stage to learn. But similar ideas, like CO₂ reduction apps or compensation platforms, have shown that when people choose their own actions and see their progress, they are much more likely to stay committed. We combine this principle with your purchase to make climate action tangible and real.
