A request by Kristian from Berlin, Germany

Hello dear team of the Urban Change Lab,

Due to a very individual design of our kitchen, we have a cutlery drawer with very unusual dimensions. It is very short in depth (27.2 cm), but normal in width at 51 cm with a carcase of 60 cm. For this we need a tailor-made cutlery insert made of iroko or walnut wood. The height of the insert should be between 5 and 5.5 cm.

As for the layout, we need 6 compartments side by side in width for knives, forks, large spoons, small spoons, long spoons and odds and ends. The two outer compartments should span the entire depth/length. The four compartments in between should be shorter with an inner depth of 20 cm, so that there is a wider transverse compartment above. A sketch, not quite to scale, is attached.

We would be very pleased to receive an offer from you.

With best regards

Kristian

Hello Kristian, I am happy to provide an offer for your idea. I have seen the sketch and I can get to it as soon as possible. I would like to inquire whether you would mind pine or cypress wood but with a walnut finish as walnut wood is hard to come by locally

Kristian (14. December 2021)

Hello Paul,

Pine or cypress wood with a walnut finish is OK for us. We are looking forward to your offer.

Best regards

Hello Kristian, I hope you are well and thank you for your feedback...I will happily get to it...I would also like to clarify what the 60cm carcase you mentioned earlier means

Kristian (14. December 2021)

Dear Paul,

you can ignore that detail - 60 cm is the width of corps of the kitchen furniture. For you relevant is 51 cm only.

Best

Paul Kiarie (10. January 2022)

Hello Kristian I hope you are well, the finishes used on the tray were walnut stain and wood wax used for furniture, crafts and floors. From my experience they are harmless when used with cutlery crafts however I would suggest you use a food safe finish for peace of mind.

Kristian (10. January 2022)

Many thank's for the info!

Best regards
