A request by Steve from Zaragoza, Spain

I’m currently reading Harry Potter to my son Andrés – he’s 8 years old and he likes playing with his toy wands but I think he’d love his own “real” wand perhaps in a box with his full name inscribed. Here’s an example https://www.harrypottershop.com/products/harry-potter-collectible-wand-by-noble-collection

Hello Steve,

I'm happy to provide an offer for your idea. I've looked at your example which is 14 inches long. I can easily make that. Africa is known for it's longstanding voodoo tradition so tell Andrés to be careful where he points that 😉
For the rough handle part, I'll use leleshwa wood so it comes out naturally and will have similar details for the curves but just more natural rather than hand crafted
For the smooth end of the wand, I'll use olive wood and just do the finishing with varnish to make it smoother. For the box, I'll curve it on the inside where the wand rests to fit the wand and cover it with red velvet fabric
Dimensions of the box I'll use are 16" length, 3" width and 2" height
For his name, would you like it in just a normal Font or I use abit of calligraphy? all small letters or capital letters? Also what is his full name?
Let me know what you think about the materiel choices and everything else.

Regards,
Esther

Steve (8. October 2019)

That all sounds perfect. His full name is Andrés . That's an acute accent on the "e". Andrés is his first name and is his surname. The first letter of each word should be capitalised and the rest lower case. I think Caligraphy wi¡ould suit it well. Thanks Esther!
Admin note: if you display this on the site then please redact the name.

Hello Steve,

I've began working on your request and I have uploaded photos of the same.

The wood you see is olive wood for the box and I would recommend not to have it stained as it might loose the essence of it's natural color.

I've uploaded a photo of the olive wood that I previously stained to show you what it will look like in the end. Let me know what you think.

Thank you,
Esther.

Esther Oriku (2. November 2019)

Hallo Steve.
Thank you for your reply.
I will start the Harry Potter project immediately once you give me the go ahead.
I've attached photos of stained olive wood with the blue arrow and unstained wood which is next to the wand as a prototype of what to expect.
Thank you
Esther

Thanks. There should be an accent on the e of Andrés. Also, the three dots are not necessary. Just Andrés all together on the same line if you can.
