Hey, Klaus Verburg, my name is Ephraim Agesa and I would be happy to provide an offer to your request.

As per your request, you have suggested we use a fabric that is light and resistant.

Some of the options we have available that fit that criteria are

1.Black synthetic leather
2.Black denim (Recycled jeans/trousers)
3.Canvas

1.Black Leather
It is the most versatile material for the project and the bag will have a uniform look. It is light and resistant to elements of weather.

2.Black denim
This material is available through recycling old denim jeans, cutting the usable pieces and assembling them together. The bag will look artistic, the material will be durable and the project will be eco friendly.

3.Black Canvas
It is very durable, also versatile and once the canvas is waxed it will be weather proof. However, its price is double the price of the other options.

Keep in mind we are not limited to using only one type of material, we can use a combination of two materials on one bag.

If you have any other suggestions on materials that can be used kindly share your opinions.

Also, kindly share your estimated budget for the project so that we can better plan our way forward.

As for the design of the bag I had some suggestions on some features to be added on the bag to increase functionality

(b)Padded straps (Main handles) for comfort while carrying the bag
(c)Padding the whole bottom of the bag for added strength to the whole bag.

Your greetings from Germany are well received and greatly appreciated.

Excellent choice on your selection, the option of recycling denim jeans for the project is great. We will be giving old trousers a new life.

Due to the size of the bag, we will need several denim trousers (10) to cut usable pieces and patch them together to form the main faces of the bag. It will be labour intensive but the look will be worth all the effort.

The denim pieces could be arranged to form a pattern. Like a wall design to be arranged in a horizontal layout as shown in Image C or a diagonal layout as shown on Image D.

I had a suggestion that would improve the look of the bag but feel free to share your idea as well.

Instead of using denim trousers alone we could use the black denim trousers on the Main faces and use black leather on the other parts of the bag as indicated on Image E

Point (d) shows Black denim pieces patched together and used on both sides of the bag as the main feature.

Points (e) (f) (g) To be made using black leather. It will bring a much needed uniform contrast, improve the quality and strength of the bag and it will help reduce the cost of production

I have provided the cost of the bag made using denim on the main faces, black leather on the other faces, the upholstery (padded handles) and high quality zippers.
The price for making the bag is as follows
-With padded upholstery 12,700 Kenya Shillings
-Without padded upholstery 12,000 Kenya Shillings

Note: The price does not include UCL charges and Shipping costs

Its nice hearing from you and thank you for appreciating my efforts.

I completely understand you. On the option submitted where denim was to be used, it was necessary to add an interior fabric lining to cover the stitch work from being visible inside the bag. However, if we use synthetic leather there won't be need for the interior fabric lining since the material has a good look on both sides.

The most economical and functional material for the project would be synthetic leather. There are different types of synthetic leather.

1. High grade synthetic leather (most durable) will cost - 10,600 Kenya Shillings per bag
2. Lower grade synthetic leather (not durable) will cost - 8500 Kenya shillings per bag

The prices indicated will have the padded features we had discussed on Picture B at point (a) and (b).
If we add the padding at the bottom at point (c) the price will be as follows;

1. High grade synthetic leather - 11,300 Kenya Shillings
2. Lower grade synthetic leather - 9,200 Kenya Shillings

Depending on the number of bags needed we might be able the save on cost if the materials are purchased in bulk. How many bags will you need?
