I would suggest the outside dimensions to be 1 cm and the rest to be 0.5cm.

I'd love to make an offer for your idea. I have understood your specifics but I'd like to recommend that the outside dimensions to be 1cm instead of 0.5cm. This is due to the estimated weight of roughly 4kg and the length which is long, I would advice to make it that way so that the entire tray is propotional and firm as the outside wall supports the rest of the tray.

For the bottom of the tray I'll use veneer wood as it's more firm than plywood which is light to support the length and weight of the tray.

What would be your prefered choice of material ? I've given an estimated quote for Mahogany. That can change depending on what you would prefer.
Pleqse advice further..

The external dimension will maintained. In terms of sustainability, I'm not very certain but I buy from Pewaki Timber enterprises here in Kenya who mostly import their wood from Congo. Im sure with the imports they make, there has to be certification of some sort to make everything sustainable.
