These Custom-Made Leather Wallets With Coin Pocket show how Trezah Nabwire Luganji turned a familiar everyday wallet idea into a matched pair with personalized details. The finished project is a useful example for anyone planning custom leather wallets with coin storage, card sections, bill compartments and initials.

  • Request: The project was for two bi-fold leather wallets in a similar format, each sized to about 11 cm wide and 13 cm high when folded, with one wallet in black and the other in brown.
  • Final result: The completed wallets were made in soft leather with personalized initials on the coin compartment flap, using an Old English style look, and the customer later confirmed that both wallets turned out very nice and high-quality.
  • Design details: Each wallet included a coin pocket with a push-button closure, card compartments, a slip pocket behind the card section, and a divided bill compartment, giving the design the organization of a classic everyday wallet.
  • Process: The final version was refined through leather sampling, shade selection for the brown wallet, interior checks, and progress photos of the finished pieces, including a final adjustment to add a small pocket inside the bill section.
  • Helpful for: This project is a strong reference if you want custom leather wallets for personal use or gifting, especially if you need matching pieces with different colors, monograms, coin storage and practical interior organization.

A request by Frank from Augsburg , Germany

Hello urban Change lab team. I would have liked to order the wallet as shown below twice. Folded it would be about 11 cm wide and 13 cm high. Under the card compartment and the small change compartment there is a ” slip pocket at the back with a divided bill compartment. I liked both in natural leather, once in black with the initials V.R. and once in brown with the initials F.R. on the coin compartment.

Negotiation & Planning

Trezah Nabwire Luganji (2. December 2025)

Thank you so much Frank for reaching out and for your clear description, it really helps. I understand you’d like two wallets, both in natural leather: one black with “V.R.” initials, and one brown with “F.R.” initials, both placed on the coin compartment. Both wallets should be about 11 cm wide and 13 cm high when folded, with a slip pocket behind the card slots and a divided compartment for bills.

To get things just right for you, could you let me know if you prefer a snap or zipper on the coin compartments, or do you prefer them open for easy access?

Frank (3. December 2025)

HiTrezah, thanks for the quick feedback. I liked to have a push button on each of the coin compartments and also on the flap of the wallet. It only occurred to me now, but perhaps you could make the initials in the "Old English" font? In any case, I'm already very excited. Best regards, Frank (Automatic translation)

Trezah Nabwire Luganji (4. December 2025)

Hello, yes that's indeed doable and even the font we'll try the old English one and see how it looks.

Regards.

Hello Frank, the above are the samples of the soft leather to be used, pleaseet me know if that's the brown shade you would like, if not I request you send me the exact shade.
I noticed on the initial plan and photos you sent I did not see coin compartment, if it's not there and you would want to maintain the same design of your previous wallet I suggest we do away with it.

I'm requesting you to send me a short video of the wallet, more so on the inside compartments like for the bills.

Thank you.

Frank (10. December 2025)

Hello Trezah,

many thanks for the pictures. I like both colors very much. I have uploaded a video for you above. I hope you can see everything well enough. If not, please let me know.

Best regards, Frank (Automatic translation)

Frank (19. December 2025)

With pleasure. Then I wish you and your family a good time and a happy new year. Best regards, Frank (Automatic translation)

Trezah Nabwire Luganji (22. December 2025)

Thank you you Frank for the b st wishes.
Have you a good time and a happy new year.

As I was sampling the black leather for sewing as seen in the photo, I was suggesting if we could use the dark brown that is put on top of the black leather so that both the wallets could have same quality or we can still use the other lighter brown in the photo. The initial brown a bit faded.

Regards.

Frank (23. December 2025)

Hi Trezah, I really like the darker leather than the one in the picture above the black one. I would take it. Thank you and best regards, Frank (Automatic translation)

Trezah Nabwire Luganji (23. December 2025)

I appreciate your quick response, let me start working on it.
