This Custom Astronomy Print School Backpack showed how a standard school bag could be turned into a personal everyday design with space for books and a laptop. Allan Ochieng made it in black canvas with white astronomy illustrations and a customized name detail on the front, making it a useful example for anyone planning a printed backpack with a specific theme.
- Request: The goal was a unisex school backpack in standard size with an all-over astronomy print in black and white, plus a personalized front name detail.
- Final result: The finished bag was a classic backpack style without a top flap, made in black canvas with white screen-printed planets and moon drawings, a large main compartment, a medium pocket, a small front pocket and two elastic side pockets.
- Design details: The inside was lined in black, the front name panel was revised after the first version so the lettering became smaller and italic as requested, and the finished look kept the contrast between the dark base fabric and the science-inspired print.
- Fit and use: This layout suited school or daily carry, with room for essentials and a laptop sized around 32.5 x 22.5 cm, while the side pockets made quick-access storage easier.
- Process: The project included a final sketch, fabric and print approval, making-progress photos and a finished update, and the customer later confirmed that they loved the bag.

Hello Nicole,I am happy to provide an offer for the idea of the backpack.The standard size is 5X10X15 inches.How many pockets will you need?The fabric best for this will be khaki or canvas depending on which will hold the print best.It can be black with white astronomy prints.How many compartments will you need and what color lining will you prefer?
Hi Allan,I would like it to have 1 big main pocket,a medium sized pocket and a small rectangular pocket at the front and two small pockets on either sides of the bag.Fabric I would like canvas.The bag to be in black with white astronomy prints.Black lining color on the inside.
Hi Nikky.been looking around for ideas.Heres a drawing of the idea of the bag.You can chose one of the prints that will be screen printed on the black canvas.I think if we put velcro on the sides pockets and zips on the front pocket and main pocket it will look nice.The word NIKKY will be printed on a different canvas piece and sewn in.
