View material & custom-made details

This Tailor-Made Kitenge Suit With Pants & Jacket shows how a custom two-piece outfit was made for a bold, occasion-ready look with a coordinated blazer and tapered trousers. Nyambura Irungu completed the set in a red-orange, black and brown African print fabric, making it a useful example for anyone considering a made-to-measure kitenge suit.

  • Request: The project began as a full kitenge suit with matching pants and coat, with a preference for slim ankles on the trousers and a polished, structured finish.
  • Final result: The finished outfit was a custom jacket-and-pants set in an orange, black and brown print, tailored as a complete coordinated suit rather than separate pieces.
  • Design details: The strong kitenge pattern gave the suit its standout look, while the jacket added shape and the tapered trouser leg kept the silhouette neat and modern.
  • Fit and use: Because the suit was made from detailed body measurements, it was suited to dressing up for events, celebrations or statement everyday wear where off-the-rack sizing might not work as well.
  • Process: Public progress updates showed fabric selection, pattern pieces for both blazer and pants, construction photos and the finished outfit, followed by very positive customer feedback once it was complete.

A request by Sharon from , Kenya

I’d like to order a full Kitenge suit outfit
Preferably pants and a coat
Can be a mix of silk/cotton with Kitenge lining or vice versa
I’ve attached two sample photos to give a rough idea of what I want
For the pants, if they’re made tight at the ankles, that be great!

Nyambura Irungu (4. December 2019)

Okay thank you. Just to confirm, I shall resend the image you have described so we are on the same page.
Do let me know if that's the one you mean.
Many Thanks,
Nyambura.

Nyambura Irungu (4. December 2019)

As these are two different items being tailored into a suit..cost of labour is a bit higher than the material costs.

Nyambura Irungu (4. December 2019)

Okay thank you. Just to confirm, I have resent the image you have described so we are on the same page.
As for pricing, these are two different items being tailored into a full suit. cost of labour is a bit higher than the material costs as different processes are being put into the jacket and the pants
Do let me know what you think. Otherwise, I’m ready to start with your go ahead.

Many Thanks,
Nyambura.
