Custom Stackable Cutlery Boxes 52×40 cm shows how Esther Oriku developed a drawer-organizing project from a simple stacked cutlery tray idea into a completed set sized for a large kitchen drawer. It is a useful example for anyone planning custom timber cutlery storage with specific outer dimensions, layered access, and different compartment layouts for everyday and less-used pieces.
- Request: The goal was a pair of stackable wooden cutlery boxes for one drawer, each measuring 52 × 40 cm with a height of about 6 to 7 cm, so one tray could sit above the other.
- Final result: The finished project included three timber cutlery boxes in the same outer size, after an additional upper tray was made so the set matched the intended stacked arrangement.
- Design details: The boxes were made without felt lining, with divided sections for sorting cutlery and household tableware, and the compartment widths were adjusted during making so the outside dimensions stayed consistent.
- Fit and use: This layout was meant to separate frequently used cutlery in the upper tray from pieces used less often below, making it practical for deep or wide drawers that need layered storage.
- Process: Progress was shared during production, including updates on partitioning and finished photos, and the final set was corrected and completed after an extra tray was added to achieve the right stackable configuration.

A request by Roland from Mühlheim am Main, Deutschland
On this page I have seen a wooden cutlery box, which I liked very much. I would like to order two for one drawer: 1. lower box dimensions: 520 mm x 400 mm x 60 mm (W x D x H) 2. upper box with the same dimensions. Both boxes are for one drawer and must therefore be stackable. It should be similar to the attached pictures. I would have liked to have stuck a felt on the inside (see picture). But this is not a condition.
