The idea from Doris from Berlin:
Hello, I would like two wooden cutlery inserts (probably should not be too soft… )The outer dimensions are identical, the division inside slightly different, I attach a detailed drawing. If you have any questions please contact me 🙂

Hello Doris, I am happy to provide an offer for your idea. To be able to I'd need to know what wood works best for you. We can work with Mahogany, which is dark and a little pricy, or cypress which is lighter in color and more pocket friendly.

Hi Brian, I would use cypress in that case.

Fantastic, so we are on the same page, I have done a sketch with letter markings, could you please indicate the measurements in centimeters. With that I have all the information needed to actualize your idea
Brian Ng'aru 19 Feb 2022 11:52 am
Fantastic we will use cypress.
There seems to be a mathematical error that I have corrected. Please look at the attached sketch and confirm on the measurements. (exclusive of the 1cm thickness of the dividers)

Hello Brian, so quite I do not get from your sketch and the designations clear.... I have tried to enter your designations again in my sketch, picture attached Actually, my dimensions are correct, the outer dimensions must also be kept so, otherwise the part does not fit in the drawer.
Hope that it is now more understandable

I have attached pictures and videos of the process so far.
What finishing would you prefer waxed with linseed oil, or vanish (seweco clear vanish) for the finishing?

Hi Brian, sorry, had already replied right away, there was probably something not working.... so : it looks good and I would prefer waxed with linseed oil as finish, thank you!

Great, looks great! I assume that you still sand it a bit so that no sharp edges are on it?
Thank you very much and greetings Doris

Good evening, so sorry about the late response I ran into a few challenges and needed to redo one tray, also I've had a challenge getting linseed oil, what's available is antique oil which I'm advised works as well. Should I consider that as an alternative finishing if tomorrow I'm still not able to get the linseed oil?
Doris 10 Mar 2022 7:56 pm
(Automatic translation) 10 Mar 2022 7:56 pm: Doris
Hi Brian, well linseed oil would be my preference as it is natural, with antique oil I don't know what is in it.... If you can't get linseed oil then maybe I would oil it myself here....
But maybe you're still lucky 😀

There's a little more sanding and then finishing to be done, I have attached a couple of pictures of the progress so far, would you like rounded edges on the top surfaces or do you prefer them squared and sharp?
Doris 12 Mar 2022 3:41 pm

Hi Brian, I would rather have rounded edges :-), thank you!

Hi Brian, leave it as it is, it looks good! I think I was confused by the term "sharp", of course I don't want to hurt myself on the edges but it doesn't look like that in the pictures.

Hello Doris,
My name is Noel Waiganjo, local operations manager, Kenya. I'm currently reviewing the quality of the trays and I've noticed that whereas the workmanship is amazing, one of the trays is 49.1 cms long instead of 49.5 cms while the width is 26 cm long instead of 26.3 cm wide. Neema has explained that this is as a result of sanding and smoothening the trays. Do these measurements still work for you? Kindly let us know and we'll ship the trays to you as soon as possible.
